for small screen and became successful because of his different and innovative
ways. When most of the stories in
serials were revolving around one family or one small share of a community,
Bharana’s ‘Sankranti’ changed the perception of daily soaps.
It was about a village and the lives of the villagers which had the true
essence of rural Indian village. It had
innocence, happiness, liveliness, jealousy, petty fights and every other emotions
in it. How modernization changes their
lives is the story.
- Another
successful serial of his is ‘Gelati’. It addressed women empowerment, their
independence, self-motivation and determination. It also tried to shed light on corporate
involvement in public lives and political conspiracy.
Bharana’s
‘Jeevanmukhi’ was also about women empowerment.
It was based on Mr. Niranjan’s novel ‘Banashankari’ and had a theme
that, widow re-marriages should not just be in books but has to be implemented.
- Another
work of Bharana ‘Doora Teera Yana’ was also about freedom and gallantry of
women. Mr. Bharana’s ‘Mahamayi’ holds
the pride of using CG for the first time in small screen. He also directed tele-serials for national
television like, P. V. Narasimha Rao’s ‘Sahasraphana’, Gorooru’s ‘Samskarana’,
R. K. Lakshman’s ‘Tenali Rama’, ‘Stone Boy’ etc.
- Even
though the main intention of the mega serials were entertainment but Mr.
Bharana tried to give a social message through them.
